Sigil construction using bindrune

Do you plan to have runes tattooed on your body?
Maybe you’ve seen a cool magic sigil and you want one too?
What if you do your own magic sigils?

Answer to yourself but in most cases, you need to know the meaning, the symbolism, the energy, no matter if it is a tattoo or a drawing.. it is a signature, a portal, an energy some know about and some don’t want you to know about…

Emmm… nope, scratch the “some don’t want you to know about” … there’s no conspiracy to hide magic… in fact, everybody is using it.

Some say that Runes are not “tainted” or “corrupted” and they are the purest tool used in divination but all tools are pure in divination, our interpretation, our filters are not so clean all the time.

In this context, runes, the true ones didn’t use any curved lines because it was harder to chisel and carve so what we see today as runes, bindrunes and of course sigils where curved shapes or lines are used… it is because we want aesthetics so we adopt, integrate and develop…

Bindrunes - Dascent

In traditional runic alphabets such as the Elder Futhark, Younger Futhark, and Anglo-Saxon Futhorc, runes are typically composed of straight lines and angles, with minimal use of curves. This design choice likely stems from the practical considerations of carving runes into hard materials such as wood, stone, or metal, where straight lines are easier to inscribe than curves.

However, in the construction of bindrunes (a combination of two or more runes into a single symbol), you might encounter semicircular or curved lines. This deviation from the traditional straight-line style could be attributed to a few reasons:

Aesthetic Adaptation: Over time, the artistic representation of runes and bindrunes has evolved. Modern interpretations or artistic renditions of runes might incorporate curves to enhance visual appeal or to fit certain design aesthetics.

Symbolic Integration: When combining multiple runes into a bindrune, the designer may use curves to more seamlessly integrate the individual runes into a single, cohesive symbol. Curves can help in connecting the straight lines of different runes in a visually harmonious way.

Cultural Influence: The introduction of semicircular elements in bindrunes could also be influenced by other cultural or symbolic systems that use curves. For example, Celtic knotwork and other ancient symbols often incorporate curves and loops, which might inspire more fluid designs in modern bindrune constructions.

Practical Constraints: In some cases, the material or medium used for creating bindrunes might necessitate the use of curves. For example, in modern graphic design or digital art, using curves can be easier and more visually pleasing than strictly adhering to straight lines.

While traditional runes are characterized by their straight-line construction, the use of semicircular elements in bindrunes reflects an evolution and adaptation of the symbols to meet contemporary aesthetic and practical needs.

And because I do appreciate individuals who do understand the importance of knowledge, here’s a knowledge gift.

Feel free to add your cultural knowledge and improve this article. I do study runes for some time and their use in esoteric and occult context is different than what mainstream is promoting. Yes, runes are characters but are also symbols with a more deeper and spiritual meaning, runes are by themselves a construct, a sigil, a concept, with a story behind.
